June 2005

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for your support and commitment to St. Gerard Majella School. If you have not re-registered your child/ren for the scholastic year 2005 - 2006 please do so as soon as possible. We need to plan now for next year, September comes very quickly. Your cooperation, as always, is much appreciated.

It doesn't seem possible that we are winding down to completing another successful school year! Please check the June calendar to see the important events scheduled.

All payments for tuition, after school care, Home and School Association and supplies must be paid before any student is allowed to take final exams. No report cards or diplomas will be given unless payment is made in full. We appreciate your sacrifices and we understand how difficult they can be at times. However, we at school need to meet our payroll and deadlines for our school bills as well.

We call your attention to the week of May 31st through June 2nd. Our Eighth Graders will be taking final exams. We ask you to please encourage them to study and do their best. All requirements must be completed before a diploma will be awarded to any student.

Remember to please attend Sunday liturgy as a family during the summer months. The spiritual growth of each of our lives is most important. In the end, our faith and good deeds matter the most. With Jesus, all is possible. Without Him, we can do nothing.

We ask you to please send in non-perishable foods for our St. Gerard Majella Parish food pantry. On the feast of St. Anthony of Padua we would like to contribute this food for the poor and needy of our own parish family. This has become a tradition for us.

June 3, 2005 will be a 12 Noon Dismissal. The faculty and I have a professional development day. There will be after school care. Pre-Kindergarten will have their promotion ceremony at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 15th in the St. Joseph Center. Brothers and sisters of the Pre-K students will be released from class to attend this event.

The Grade 8 Baccalaureate Mass will be held on Thursday, June 16th at 1:00 P.M. in St. Gerard Majella Church. All are invited to join us for this special celebration. On that same day, the graduation ceremony for the Eighth Graders will be held at 6:30 P.M. in the church.

Our last day of school will be Tuesday, June 21st since we have met the requirement of 180 instructional days for our students. Both Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st will be 12 Noon Dismissal. There will be after school care on Monday only. Children are expected to be picked up by Noon on Tuesday.

On the morning of June 21st, there will be an award ceremony at 9:00 A.M. in the St. Joseph Center. We invite all our parents/guardians to join us for Morning Prayer and our award ceremony. Parents attending the ceremony are free to take their child/ren home at its conclusion. All other students will be dismissed at noon.

We congratulate the parents/guardians of our graduates and we pray that our shining stars will continue to mature and reach the goals they have set for themselves. Our love and prayers accompany them on their journey.

The faculty, staff and I wish each of you and your family a happy and safe summer filled with relaxation and family fun.

God's blessings be with each of you.

With love and gratitude,

Sr. Jo-Ann Pompa, M.P.F.

Principal
