January 2007 |
The faculty and staff join me in wishing each of you and your families a very happy and healthy New Year! May the Prince of Peace bring all of us the true peace that Jesus wants to exist in our world and in each of our lives.
Many thanks for your generous Christmas gifts and greetings which your child/ren gave to us with so much love and joy! May you be blessed for your generosity to us!
Happy Birthday to Lucy Filippini! Although her birthday is on Saturday, January 13th, we will have a celebration at school on Friday the 12th.
Progress reports will be sent home Friday, January 12, 2007.
There will be no school on Monday, January 15th in honor of Martin Luther King Day.
Please be sure homework is completed daily and children are studying. They need to prepare for exams which will be administered beginning Tuesday, January 16th and continuing through Friday, January 19th. The teachers will be informing the students of the test material well in advance so they can prepare for each exam.
Our next Home and School Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 24th in then St. Joseph Center at 7:00 PM. Please plan to attend this important function.
Catholic Schools' Week is coming soon! We want to celebrate Saint Gerard Majella School and all we stand for. Together in Faith for all children! We would like us, as a school family, to come together to thank God for all the blessings your child/ren receive each day at their school. Together we will gather on the opening of Catholic Schools' Week with our Family Liturgy on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 9:00 AM. We ask that your child/ren dress in complete school uniform for this liturgy. Refreshments will follow in the Saint Joseph Center. Information will be forthcoming on the many activities we are planning for Catholic Schools' Week.
We hope that you will come and support us in what we try to promote each day, Love for Jesus and for the Eucharist. We need to come together to pray and show witness of our faith and what we truly believe by our good example. We are role models for our children. As parents/guardians, you are their first teachers. We are counting on you and your support! Please mark down the date now and plan to be in attendance so we can truly celebrate as one family of faith.
The Marketing Committee and the Educational Council of St. Gerard Majella School will begin meeting in the New Year! A special thank you goes to the parents who have shown interest in helping us with these committees to continue to promote our school. All your efforts help our school to continue to be a safe environment and wonderful learning experience for all children who desire a solid Catholic School Education.
Together let us go forward in the New Year to try to improve in reaching out to our children who are seeking help and understanding as they continue to grow in age, wisdom and grace the way Jesus did. Let us be with them every step of the way, encouraging them to be the best they can be and do the best they can do.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We look forward to a successful and hopeful New Year. May Jesus continue to be our light and strength and walk with us as we continue to struggle on our journey in life. May Jesus bless you abundantly with His peace and love which He alone can give.
With love and gratitude,
Sr. Jo-Ann Pompa, M.P.F.
