June 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians,

June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We give Jesus a special place in our lives and we honor Him.

The school year is winding down and we need your cooperation and support to be sure our "shining stars" have completed all work required and are prepared for the final exams they will be taking the week of June 4th - 8th. Each teacher has given their students an outline of what is to be studied. Please be sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast before coming to school so that he/she can do well on their exams. We are encouraging all of our children to study and to dream, believe and achieve. It is up to each child to try and come prepared for classes each day. Our teachers are working hard to have each of their students succeed. We need your help. See that your child/ren come to school prepared! Homework must be completed each day! All make-up work must be completed before your child/ren can take his/her exams!

June 1st will be our field day beginning at 9:00 AM. Have your child come dressed in a rainbow colored shirt (the one he/she wore for the spring show would be fine) and jeans. If you are able to give a helping hand, we ask that you park your car in the church lot and meet us in the St. Joseph Center. We will have a picnic lunch prepared for each child. The menu will be a hot dog, bag of chips, fruit, snack, juice, ice cream and water. If your child doesn't want this treat, you may pack him/her a lunch.

On Monday, June 4, 2007, the Eighth Grade will have a retreat day. This will help prepare them for their graduation.

Our Pre-Kindergarten will have their promotion ceremony at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, June 13th in the St. Joseph Center. All are welcome.

In the evening of June 13th, there will be our First Annual AWARD NIGHT. All Kindergarten through 7th Grade students will receive their End of Year Awards. Our band and cheerleaders will perform for everyone as well. Please plan to join us at 7:00 PM in the St. Joseph Center.

June 14th is the day all the Eighth Graders have been waiting for. Baccalaureate Mass will be held at 1:00 PM in the church with the entire student body present. Graduation ceremonies will take place at 6:30 PM in the church. You are all invited to attend both Baccalaureate and Graduation. Please join us as we send our Eighth Graders off to High School.

Monday, June 18, 2007 and Tuesday, June 19, 2007 are FULL days of school with Aftercare available. Wednesday, June 20th is the LAST day of school. There will be a 12 NOON DISMISSAL WITH NO AFTERCARE.

Please register now if you haven't already done so. We need to plan and order textbooks for the upcoming scholastic year!

Thank you for a wonderful and successful 2006 - 2007. We look forward to a new and exciting 2007 - 2008 school year with many new and wonderful challenges for all the shining stars of St. Gerard Majella School. There is much hope for all of us. God is watching over us, giving us all the strength we need to carry out our responsibilities as parents, administrators, teachers and students. With Jesus, all things are possible. Without Jesus, nothing is possible.

The faculty and staff join me in thanking you for your support and cooperation. We wish you a safe, restful and enjoyable summer with renewed energy and strength to do all you do with the help of Jesus walking with you each day of your life.

The 2007 - 2008 scholastic year will be begin with a full day and after care on Wednesday, September 7, 2007.

May the Lord give you His peace. May you feel His love and presence in your life!
